A five-storey building collapses in Gzb: no casualties reported
NEW DELHI: A five-storey building in Ghaziabad's Khoda area collapsed on Friday. No casualty has been reported.
"The building was not in good condition, and around 8-10 years old. It was evacuated a few days back after a crane collapsed into it. The repair work of the building was underway, and no one was present inside the building when the incident occurred. However, NDRF & other rescue teams are present at the spot and rescue operations are underway" said Ritu Maheshwari, District Magistrate, Ghaziabad.
Locals said there was a garment showroom, but it had been shut down as the condition of the building was precarious.
The building was located on a posh and crowded road. The administration also evacuated the street, and nearby buildings after the locals raised an alarm that the building was on the verge of collapse.
The incident comes amidst continuous rains over the past few days in the national capital region and two days after a road caved in Vasundhara's Sector 4C.
