A day after: flames doused, cooling operations on
Almost 24 hours since a massive blaze broke out at The Times of India office at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg on Sunday, the firemen are still at work as they are currently involved in cooling operations. In the afternoon, several small fires were spotted which were doused off within minutes. The fire officials believe that the cooling operations will continue till late in the night. "We have been working at the building site since yesterday (Sunday) evening. We had deputed additional fire tenders to the spot, and currently we have a total of 15-20 fire tenders at the spot that are being supervised by senior Delhi Fire Services officials," said a DFS official. The fire had broken out in the server room of the systems department on the first floor of the TOI building on Sunday evening.
The fire spread to the second floor and canteen area of the building. Fire officials also believe that a snag in the cooling system of the building is suspected to have played a role in fanning the flames leading to the outbreak of the blaze. This is the second time in which a fire broke out of the building. In the month of May last year, a massive fire broke out of the first floor of the building.
