76 new cases, 3 deaths in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: The number of Coronavirus cases in Delhi increased to 3,515 on Thursday, with three fresh deaths being reported, according to data shared by Delhi government.

Till Wednesday, the national Capital recorded 3,439 cases and 56 fatalities.

On Thursday, 76 fresh cases were reported while three people succumbed to the virus.

As many as 1,094 patients have recovered while there are 2,362 active cases.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government on Thursday de-contained another red zone in East district after no new case reported from it in the last four weeks.

In a tweet, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said Vardhaman Apartments in Mayur Vihar Phase 1 has been de-contained.

"In order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, we implemented operation SHIELD in the Vardhaman Apartments. In the last four weeks, no new cases have been reported from there and today, we de-contained the Vardhaman Apartments. This

was only possible with the help of the people," Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.

Vardhaman Apartments was made a containment zone on April 2.

On April 24, the Delhi government de-contained the red zone in the Vasundhara Enclave area, also

in the East district, after no new cases were reported from the area.

Mansara Apartments in the Vasundhara Enclave, the first de-contained red zone in the city, was made the containment zone on March 31 after one person tested positive for Coronavirus.

The Delhi government on Thursday ordered screening of all people living in COVID-19 containment zones at least thrice within 14 days of identifying such areas. The move comes in the backdrop of several people testing positive for Coronavirus in containment zones despite restrictions imposed there.

The Delhi government made '1077' the Covid-19 helpline number for

senior citizens in the national Capital.
