72-year-old accuses his grandson of theft

New Delhi: An elderly man has accused his 14-year-old grandson of committing theft of cash and jewellery worth Rs 12 lakh from his home in Shahdara district.

Police have registered a case in this regard. Police said that his grandson studies in class seven.

"The suspect has a habit of taking out money from the pockets of family members without informing them. He fell in bad company due to which the family members enrolled the boy in another school," complainant

said.

The 72-year-old complainant told police that his friend's forced him to bring money for drug addiction.

The complainant further added that Rs two lakh and jewellery worth Rs 12 lakh which he had kept in his house for daughter's marriage went missing.

Family members were searched but the cash and valuables were not found. Later family members suspected the role of minor

kid.

"When he was asked about the missing cash and valuables. The minor said that he had stolen the money and jewellery. He further told the family members that his five friends were blackmailing him," complainant told police.

The boy claimed that his friends were blackmailing on the pretext of uploading a video of him smoking hookah in social media.

"One day his friends had recorded a video in which the minor was smoking hookah. They were threatening him that they will inform his parents regarding this," the complainant told the police.

A case under sections 380,384,506,120B and 34 of IPC have been registered in this regard and further investigation is going on.
