7-yr-old girl found dead in Ghaziabad was raped before murder
Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad police on Monday confirmed after receiving the post-mortem report that the seven-year-old girl, whose body was recovered on Sunday morning from the terrace of a mosque in Muradnagar area, was raped before being brutally murdered.
A senior police officer further added that the child died of strangulation and based on autopsy reports, police have added Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections of rape and relevant sections of Protection of Child Against Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act, other than kidnapping and murder, against four named persons.
"Based on the complaint received from the victim's father, police lodged an FIR against a member of Nagar Palika Parishad Aijaz and his brothers Navsaad, Shehzad and Izhaar under IPC sections 302 (murder), 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape) and relevant sections of POCSO Act has been registered against them. We have formed teams and are conducting raids at various suspected hideouts of the accused in order to nab them. Soon, we are expecting to make a breakthrough," said Lakshendra Kumar, Station House Officer, Murad Nagar police station.
The seven-year-old girl was missing from home since Saturday afternoon, while her body was found packed in a gunny bag on the terrace of a mosque in Muradnagar area of Ghaziabad on Sunday morning.
The victim's father in his complaint said that she went missing while she had gone to the nearby market.
"We searched the locality first and also enquired the shopkeepers but we could not find her. In the evening, we lodged a missing person's complaint at Muradnagar police station," the girl's father said.
The sack was first noticed by a boy of the area who suspected something fishy when he saw flies buzzing around it. He alerted other people in the area who informed the police about the incident. The victim's father, a school owner, alleged a member of Nagar Palika Parishad to be behind the murder and stated that a personal enmity had developed during elections with the accused.
