60 illegal colonies in Badshahpur came up last year; DTCP begins probe

Gurugram: The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) have begun investigations on those officials that allowed registration of more 60 colonies in and around Gururgam in the last one year.

The investigation is being on the lines of strict action by the DTCP to prevent the rapid growth of the colonies that is causing loss to the government exchequer.

The DTCP has already dismissed four officials who were involved in registering the illegal colonies in the past and they are presently facing an inquiry.

To make sure that there is no further growth of such colonies the top officials of DTCP are also coordinating with public agencies to ensure that no basic facilities are provided to residents of such colonies.

"We have initiated strictest of action against those officials that were involved in registering the illegal colonies. We have now made clear that before giving the clearance the official would have to consult the senior so that there is no corruption in these processes and the accountability is fixed," said a senior official from

DTCP.

There are a large number of non registered colonies around Gurugram. Sohna, Farrukhnagar, Pataudi are the main areas where the land mafia is most active in creating the colonies.

As the rates of these areas are much lower than the market rates prevailing in Gurugram these plots also get enough buyers.
