Greater Noida: An advocate was arrested from Bulandshahr area on Tuesday morning in connection with Rs 126-crore YEIDA land scam, the fifth arrest so far made by Gautam Buddh Nagar police into the case.
Police said Sanjeev Kumar, who was picked up from his home during a morning raid, was the director of three companies from which 57 hectares had been brought in Mathura at an inflated price though the land had no utility.
"We got a tip-off from an informer following which the raid was conducted and we successfully managed to nab the accused. During sustained interrogations, it came to light that the arrested accused was the director of three companies- DATA infrastructure private limited, A&G and Himalya limited. Around 7-8 lands involved in the scam were also registered on his name. Also, he had invested around 70 lakhs into the whole land acquisition process. We are further interrogating the accused to gather more information in the case," said Nishank Sharma, Circle Officer-1, Greater Noida.
The officer further said that Tuesday's arrest is the fourth arrest in the past six days into the case.
