NEW DELHI: To make up for the years spent in Tihar prison, a criminal decided to earn quick money and chose supply of illicit liquor as the means. Delhi Police however foiled his plans and arrested Raj Kumar, 32, while he was transporting 5000 quarters of country liquor for sale in Haryana .
Police said that the stock was meant for sale on Holi. On Feb 12 at about 4.30 in the morning, a TATA ACE delivery van was seen coming from Jangpura side. The police team intercepted the vehicle and overpowered the van driver. During search of the van, 100 cartons of Rasila Santra Masaledar Sharab 'For Sale in Haryana Only' comprising 5000 quarters of liquor were recovered. Accused driver was identified as Raj Kumar, resident of Ravi Nagar, Khyala Village, Tilak Nagar.
"He revealed that in 2012, he along with his 3 other friends was arrested in a murder case in Ranhola but he was acquitted by the Court and was released from jail in the year 2017. After releasing from the jail, he decided to make up for the lost years in Tihar jail and to earn quick money. He chose illegal liquor supply as a means to earn quick money and purchased a second hand TATA ACE delivery van (Chotta Hathi) to smuggle Haryana liquor from godowns near Rajiv Chowk, Gurgaon to supply to bootleggers in jhuggi areas in Delhi at hiked prices.
