59-year-old woman killed by her brother in Vikaspuri

New Delhi: A 59-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her brother in West Delhi's Vikaspuri area on Tuesday. Police claimed that the reason behind the incident was that the deceased opposed her brother's drug addiction which turned into a scuffle resulted in the murder. According to the police, the incident came to light after they received a PCR call at 11:15 am on Tuesday. Immediately, local police rushed to the spot and found the injure lying in a pool of blood. The injured, Ashwani, was shifted to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital, Janakpuri, where she was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vijay Kumar claimed that the statement of eyewitness named Kanta (victim's mother) was recorded in which she stated that deceased was stabbed by her younger brother identified as Latinder. "On her statement, a case under sections 302/324 IPC was registered. Accused Latinder was arrested," said the DCP adding that investigation into the case is in progress. When asked the reason behind the murder, a senior police officer stated that the accused is a drug addict. His sister used to question him about his bad habits.
"On Monday, the 33-year-old accused asked for money which resulted in an argument. The accused picked up the kitchen knife and stabbed her twice," said the police officer.
This is not the first case where the accused is a relative of the deceased. On Monday, a 38-year-old woman was bludgeoned to death allegedly by her husband in the presence of their children on Monday morning in outer Delhi's Mangolpuri.
