New Delhi: The AAP-led Delhi government is organising a programme in which 50 teachers of the Delhi Government school will perform, on November, 22 at the Central Park in Connaught Place. The Delhi government school teachers from various subjects like mathematics, english, hindi, social sciences, and others will present shows in theatre, songs, musical plays, street plays, and other forms of performance arts.
For the event, the Delhi government has received nearly 700 entries and 200 for solo singing of which 50 have been selected. The preparation for this has been going on four months.
Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia said, "from the very first day of our government, we have focused on the holistic development of our teachers. The government is taking various steps to encourage the teachers which would be helpful for both the teachers and students. Moreover, this will help to develop a better education environment in Delhi. We have planned this cultural programme where the Delhi government school teachers will perform because cultural programmes are always helpful for the mind and soul. Such programmes will also help the teachers to explore their various unexplored sides which will eventually help them to perform better not only as a human being but also as teachers."
Th teachers will perform in both classical and contemporary dance forms and also take part in street plays which have a strong social message on social issues. Through the street plays the teachers will try to reach out to the students, fellow teachers, the citizens, and the audience regarding various social issues, stigma, injustice, and social malpractice.
A Delhi government school teacher, Rajkumar said, "When I joined this profession I never thought that I will again get an opportunity to perform but today it has come true. Cultural programmes are also helpful for the mind and it brings peace. I hope that the government will do more such programmes."
