5-year-old girl raped in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Vijay Nagar of Ghaziabad. Police have arrested the accused and a case of rape has been registered against him.

According to the police, the incident was reported at around 1:30 am on Tuesday. The victim who was lured by offering candies to her was taken to a secluded place where the accused tried to rape her. The police said that the accused was known to the victim's family and used to visit them.

"Based on the complained filed, the accused was arrested from the Pratap Vihar area of Ghaziabad. A case of rape under IPC section 376 (attempt to rape) has been registered against the accused. The victim has been sent for medical examination and a probe has been launched in the matter," said Akash Tomar, Superintendent of Police (city),
