4 persons posed as anti-corruption officers to dupe people, held in Gzb

Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad's Modinagar police have arrested four persons, including a woman, who used to dupe people by posing as fake Anti-corruption department officers. Police have recovered fake ID cards and other documents from the possession of accused persons.

According to police, the arrested persons have been identified as Ravindra Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Naveen Verma, and Suman Devi.

K P Mishra, circle officer of Modinagar said that the gang members were arrested while they were trying to bluff police during routine vehicle checking.

"On Wednesday night, when police was performing routine checking at Delhi-Meerut road, police stopped the car in which accused persons were travelling. All the four occupants of the car stepped out when the three arrested men took walkie-talkie in hand and the woman impersonated herself as a senior officer from anti-corruption department. They started pressurising the SHO of Modinagar police station citing their fake identity," said Mishra.

"However, police felt something to be fishy and kept on questioning them. Initially they became offensive but later confessed that they were not officials from anti-corruption department. Police interrogated them and they told police that they use to dupe people through their fake identity," added

Mishra.

"The accused told police that they have duped over three dozen people by using their fake identity," police said.
