32 lakh challans made in only six months
New Delhi: Be more careful while playing loud music, carrying goods in passenger vehicles or smoking during driving as more than 32 lakh challans have been made in the year 2018.
The Delhi Traffic Police data accessed by Millennium Post till (June 15) stated that more than 4,000 challans were made for using the private vehicle as the taxi whereas 1,344 challans were issued for smoking while driving. Over 8,000 challans were made for using the mobile phone during driving. Playing loud music in the vehicle led to over 700 challans.
More than 5,000 challans were made for overcrowding in passenger vehicles. The city police had also the tightened the noose on the driver and conductors for not wearing the proper uniform as 11,825 challans were done for the offence.
The Delhi Police also found that passengers were carried in the vehicles meant to carry goods as more than 1,300 challans were issued for the offence whereas in many passenger vehicles goods were also carried and action was taken by Delhi traffic police as 1,700 challans were issued for the offence. Wrong overtaking caused more than 3,000 challans in the city whereas parking in the bus lane caused more than 47,000 challans.
Police cracked down on the vehicles having tinted glass as more than 26,000 challans were issued for the offence. 39,908 challans were made for using defective number plate. 1.46 lakh challans were issued for not using proper vehicle lights. 14 challans were made because there was no fare chart in the vehicle whereas more than 7000 challans made for honking horn.
More than 64,000 challans were made for over-speeding. Taxi or TSR cannot refuse to take the passenger as for this offence 942 challans were made by city police while 600 challans were issued for overcharging and misbehaving.
