300 Delhiites to help cops manage traffic in city

New Delhi: Delhi Police will soon get the help of 300 Delhi'ites who will help them in managing traffic all over National Capital. Amulya Patnaik, Delhi Commissioner of Police, on Monday formally launched the traffic sentinel scheme as part of the National Road Safety Week-2018 celebrations, at Dogra Hall Auditorium, IIT Hauz Khas, Delhi.
According to the police, on this occasion, as many as 319 Sentinels, who voluntarily offered their services, were appointed. They would help traffic police in regulating and managing traffic.
"They were given kits consisting of Fluorescent Jackets, Caps and Identity Cards to be used by them while assisting traffic police during duty," the police said. A senior official stated that they will help police in all parts of the city.
In addition, active users of Traffic Sentinel App who accumulated points on the basis of videos and photographs of traffic violations sent by them to Delhi Traffic Police were also felicitated.
Speaking on the occasion, Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, congratulated the traffic sentinels and inspired them to work in close coordination with Delhi Traffic Police. The Police Commissioner hoped that the scheme would expand with more citizens chipping in and making the impact on regulation and management of traffic. Dependra Pathak, Special. Commissioner of Police, Traffic, P Kamraj, Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order(South) and Sandeep Goel, Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order ( North) and other senior officers of Delhi police graced the occasion.
