3-yr-old becomes target of snatchers, 2 arrested in case
New Delhi: A three-year-old became the victim of snatching in Bhalswa Dairy of Outer North Delhi. Police have arrested two accused in the case.
According to police, in the afternoon of March 4, one Shailesh along with his 3-year-old granddaughter had gone to fetch some eatables from the nearby shop in Bhalswa Dairy area.
"In the meantime, two boys came there and one of them pushed him and another boy forcibly robbed the pendant of his granddaughter," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer-North) Gaurav Sharma, adding that they have registered a case of robbery.
"At the time of incident both the boys (both unknown) were collecting rags in my area. When I reached the main gate of my house the duo reached there. One of the accused had slapped and then pushed me and other snatched my granddaughter pendant," the complainant said, adding that they alerted other people about the incident till then both the accused fled the spot.
According to DCP, they interrogated several suspects and scanned nearby CCTV footages. Later both the culprits identified as Mohammad Nazim (20) and Sagar (19) were arrested.
"They told us that they are ragpickers and picks rags from different areas of Bhalswa Dairy. On the day of the incident, they saw a small girl playing on the street. Finding the opportunity, they robbed the pendant which the girl was wearing," police said, adding that Nazim was found involved in 10 cases. Sagar had been previously involved in nine cases.
