3 held for thrashing youth over suspicion of being child lifter
Noida: Three persons have been arrested by Noida police for allegedly giving fake information about a 'child being lifted' from Sadarpur area in sector 45 of Noida. The accused persons badly thrashed a youth with sticks suspecting him to be a child lifter.
According to police, the incident occurred around 10:30 pm on Saturday when three residents of Sadarpur village, identified as Vishal, Mahipal and Santosh thrashed a young boy badly and spread a rumour of him being a child lifter.
Cops said that the youth identified as Shani Kumar, a resident of sector 45 area of Noida was beaten up by the public after the villagers of Sadarpur alleged that he tried to grab a 16-year-old girl by her hand and pulled her when she was asleep outside her jhuggi. The girl raised an alarm and Kumar was beaten black and blue by the public. A woman from crowd made police control room call.
Police reacted to the information conveyed and upon reaching the spot, they found the information which has been spread was fake and three men were arrested from the spot.
"The youth was admitted to the hospital as he sustained injuries while getting beaten up. Three men were arrested from the spot for spreading fake information and taking law in their hand," said police officials.
"These three persons have been booked under section 505 (statements conducing public mischief) of IPC. They were produced before the court and have been sent to jail," said Neeraj Malik, Station House Officer of sector 39 police station.
Meanwhile the villagers alleged that this was the second incident in the past three days when they heard the information of the presence of some unknown miscreants in their area. They said that on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, the villagers were raised by the presence of some unknown assailants who allegedly tried to enter the jhuggi cluster.
In a similar incident reported from Loni area of Ghaziabad on August 27, a 58-year-old woman was thrashed by mob after they suspected her to be a child lifter. However, cops showed that the woman was child's grandmother. A day after this incident, a 21-year-old mentally challenged man and a woman were beaten after a few people raised an alarm that both are child lifters in Tronica city area. However, police said that both of them didn't even know each other and we're thrashed out of rumours.
