3 gun runners held in Ghazipur

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Thursday said that they have arrested three gun runners including kingpin near Murga Mandi, Ghazipur and recovered 21 semi-automatic pistols, revolvers of .32 along with 15 spare magazines from them. Police identified the accused as Khilafat Ali (56), Furkan (49) and Khalid (28).

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwah said that Khilafat is the kingpin of this syndicate. The accused disclosed that they used to receive the supply of pistols and revolvers from a resident of Sendhwa in Madhya Pradesh.

"Khilafat and Furkan further disclosed that the said person was engaged in manufacturing of illegal weapons and supplied them in NCR and the adjoining States," said DCP Special Cell.

Both the above arms suppliers have been indulging in the supply of illegal arms. In the year 2014, Khilafat was arrested by the Special Cell.

"After getting bail in the above case, Khilafat absconded and did not appear before the trial court in Delhi. Proceedings to declare him PO, in this case, were in progress," police said. Interrogation of Khilafat and Furkan further revealed that they used to purchase pistols from suppliers of MP and further used to sell these pistols to various persons including criminals/gangsters of Delhi NCR for keeping their profit.

"Case is being examined to invoke the provision of MCOCA against members of this syndicate including the arrested trio of the above case," police said.
