3 boys drown in water of under-construction golf course in Dwarka

New Delhi: Three boys drowned in the water pit of an under-construction golf course in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka Sector 23, police said on Saturday. The police received information around 8 pm that three boys had entered the water but did not come out, a senior officer said.

It was found that a group of four boys jumped over the wall and entered the premises of the under-construction golf course, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) M Harsha Vardhan said.

The boys were returning home after playing football in Sector 19, he said.

Three of the boys left their bags on the grass and entered the water pit and drowned. Their bodies have been recovered and inquest proceedings are underway, Vardhan said.

“... it is not rain or flood related. The water pit is a feature of the under-construction golf course. However, we are inquiring further. The deceased have been identified as Qutub Vihar residents Arun, Anuj and Abhishek,” the officer said.

Meanwhile, an unidentified shirtless body, approximately 30 years of age, was found at Bela Farm, Shastri Park on Sunday morning.

The scene revealed sharp weapon injuries on the victim’s neck and abdomen with the local authorities registering the case at the Shastri Park Police Station, launching an investigation into the crime.

The police received an alert in the early hours of Sunday, reporting the presence of an unknown male body discarded at Bela Farms at 8:34 am. “According to the preliminary observations suggested that the victim had been stabbed elsewhere and callously dumped at this location, potentially in an attempt to conceal the crime,” according to an investigating police officer.

Recognising the severity of the situation, the police swiftly documented the murder case in the Daily Diary Entry, officially commencing the investigation process. Police officers have initiated a detailed examination of the crime scene to gather crucial evidence that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding the murder. Officials have gone through the missing person’s complaint file to identify the deceased. Every possible lead is being pursued diligently to establish the identity of the victim and apprehend those responsible for this heinous act.

As the investigation progresses, the police are urging anyone with information related to the crime to come forward and cooperate with the authorities. Public assistance is crucial in helping law enforcement agencies apprehend the culprits swiftly and ensure justice for the victim and their grieving families.
