27-yr-old beaten to death by her in-laws over dowry demand

In another case of alleged dowry, a 27-year-old married woman, Tanu was allegedly beaten to death by her in-laws after her family failed to fulfill their dowry demands in Sector 8, Noida on Monday.

"Tanu's grandfather Nawal Kishor, a resident of Delhi, alleged that his granddaughter was killed by her husband Pramod Chaudhary and in-laws last night.

Based on the complaint received, a FIR has been lodged with Sector 20 police station and our investigations are on, " said Dinesh Yadav, Superintendent of Police, Noida.

According to the complaint, Kishore alleged that Tanu's in-laws were demanding cash and home furniture in dowry after the couple's marriage which he was unable to fulfill following which they killed his granddaughter, said Kishor.

The deceased's grandfather also stated that the torture continued after couple's marriage and their demands for cash and other goods started to increase.

"Tanu was tortured by them every next day and she was then beaten to death after the family failed to fulfill their demands. There were injury marks all over the body" added her

grandfather.
