25 kg marijuana seized, three held
NEW DELHI: The Inter-border Gangs Investigation Squad (IGIS) of the Crime Branch, Dwarka has busted an illegal drugs syndicate being run in the garb of turmeric business and arrested three racketeers including the mastermind with recovery of 25.600 kilograms of marijuana. Te mastermind rajeev Kumar, Sanjay Ram and Anil has been arrested.
Crime braanch received information that members of illegal drugs syndicate would come in New Usmanpur area with consignment of marijuana.
The Crime Branch team laid a trap near the expected place of their arrival and the accused persons Sanjay Ram and Anil alias Nanhe were successfully apprehended by Crime Branch team at New Usmanpur with recovery of 25.600 kilograms of marijuana kept in a bag.
A case under NDPS Act was registered and both the accused persons were arrested in the case. The mastermind Rajeev Kumar basically belongs to district Sitamarhi, Bihar and is a high school dropout.
Three years ago, he came to Delhi in search of livelihood and started turmeric business from a rented godown in New Usmanpur area.
"The accused Rajeev Kumar used to send the consignment of Ganja from Bihar via train, which was received by the accused Sanjay Ram in Delhi, who then store it in their godown in garb of turmeric in order to avoid its stench in locality," said DCP crime, Ajit Kumar Singla.
