24 Delhi Police personnel get President's Police Medal

New Delhi: Twenty-four officers of Delhi Police have been conferred Police Medal for their services. While five have been awarded Police Medal for Gallantry, three were awarded President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 16 were honoured with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the even of Independence Day.

Meanwhile, the Police Medal for Gallantry has been awarded to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Assistant Commissioner of Police Lalit Mohan Negi, ACP Hridaya Bhushan, ACP Ramesh Chander Lamba and Sub-inspector Sukhbir Singh.

The five above-mentioned officers had, on October 24, 2013, risked their lives and exhibited exemplary valor to confront notorious gangster Surinder Mallik alias Neetu Dabodia. The action of these brave policemen helped neutralise wanted criminals.

Meanwhile, Special Commissioner of Police Satish Golchha, ACP Rajender Singh Yadav and ACP Sandeep Patil have been chosen for President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

Golchha (IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, Crime and EOW, Delhi) qualified as a chartered accountant in 1988 from ICAI and completed L.LB in 1991 from South Gujarat University. He served in various capacities in Delhi, Dadra and Nagar Haveli Police, Daman Police, Goa Police, Central Bureau of Investigation, Andaman and Nicobar Police and the Economic Offences Wing. Rajender Singh Yadav played a key role in solving the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case.

The sixteen police personnel who have received the Police Medal for Meritorious Service include four women, namely SI Anita Kalia, SI Nirmal Kumari, Assitant SI Rajani Malik, Head Constable Anju Sandhya Minj.
