20 job seekers cheated of Rs one crore, four arrested
New Delhi: For Chatis Kumar, a resident of Jhunjhunu village in Rajasthan, his prime concern right now is to pay off the Rs eight lakh loan taken from money lenders. He had paid the large sum of money to six people, who promised him a job but cheated him.
Chatis is among 20 other villagers from Jhunjhunu, all of whom have been cheated of a total of Rs one crore, said Delhi Police on Saturday, adding that they have arrested four men in this regard.
The arrested accused have been identified as Amit Pal (27), Dinesh Kumar (30), Manoj Yadav (30) and Jitender. The police team that made the arrest was led by ACP Anil Dureja.
Chatis told Millennium Post that the men from whom he had taken the loan are now demanding him to return the money, with interest. "I recently finished BTech, for which my family had spent a lot of money. I wanted a job only to help my parents. But after this cheating, I can't say anything for sure," rued Chatis.
Chatis was the first one to be cheated by the gang, back in June 2017. Explaining how he was cheated, Chatis said he had met one Priyanka, who lived 60 km away from his house, and told him about railway and bank jobs.
"My family is dependent on farming. We are not rich, so I borrowed money and gave it to the woman," said Kumar.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Joy Tirkey said that the gang was running an inter-state fake job racket from Mahipalpur in west Delhi, under a fake company by the name of Future Tree Aviation Academy Private Limited.
The accused would charge Rs seven to 10 lakh per candidate in exchange for government jobs.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar said that to convince the victims of the job offer being genuine, the accused would give them fake joining letters, conduct medical examination, give them two month-long fake training sessions, and even salary for two months between Rs 6,500 and Rs 8,500.
"The accused had also prepared a fake website resembling that of Indian Railways and other concerned departments, where they declare a fake result. The targetted victims would check their result on a web link provided to them by the accused," said Kumar.
After this, the victims would have to fill up an application form, after which further appointment letters for the applied posts were sent to the candidate.
The other accused Priyanka, website designer Gaurav Sarkar and Kuldeep are yet to be arrested.
