20 job seekers cheated of Rs one crore, four arrested
New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police on Saturday said that three African members of an international drug cartel have been arrested from separate parts of the city, from whose possession heroin worth Rs 30 crore in the international market has been recovered.
Police said that the arrested accused have been identified as Martin (30), Ekene Kenneth Onyetobe (33), both Nigerian nationals, and Marium (36), a Kenyan national named.
Cops said that members of this cartel are involved in supply of high-grade heroin in Delhi-NCR and Punjab. The heroin is smuggled into India from Afghanistan and Pakistan.
On June 24, Onyetobe was the first to be arrested near ISBT Kashmiri Gate. Based on his revelations, on June 27, Marium was apprehended from near bus stand Mukarba Chowk. She disclosed that the heroin recovered from her was to be delivered to a Punjab-based drug dealer near the Mukarba Chowk bus stand, as per the directions of Martin.
"Based on her information, a raid conducted at Martin's rented accomodation. He tried to escape, but the alert team managed to apprehend him," said police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwaha on Saturday said that packing material, electronic weighing scales, mobile phones used in drug trafficking, a bag with a secret cavity used for transportation of heroin from Afghanistan on flight and a fake passport were recovered Martin's residence.
