2 held for robbing elderly woman

New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested one robber who used to work as a delivery boy in online food delivery company along with his accomplice and solved the robbery case committed with a senior citizen lady at the knifepoint in West Delhi.

Police identified the accused as Kamal Kant (34) and Om Prakash (62). The complainant Saroop Kaur (76) reported that on April 23 after hearing doorbell of her house she opened the door and found one unknown person, who was wearing a helmet, at the door. That person pushed her inside the house and forcibly entered the house.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Monika Bharadwaj said that when she tried to resist, the accused showed her a knife and threatened her to keep quiet. Then the accused broke the glass of the door of another room and robbed the cash amounting to Rs 5.30 lakh from the locker fixed in that room. Before leaving, the robber also forcibly took away three gold bangles from the hands of the complainant.

"During scrutiny of the footage, one bag of online food delivery company was noticed on the suspect motorcycle. Details of about 2,700 motorcycles being used by the employees of the company was obtained," said DCP West adding that nine motorcycles were obtained and put on technical surveillance. Photos of all these nine delivery boys were obtained and shown to the complainant. The complainant identified one of the delivery boys and informed the police that he was earlier working as a driver in her neighbourhood.

Later accused Kamal Kant was arrested from his residence in Nangloi and co-accused Om Prakash was also nabbed.
