2 die in road mishap at Eastern peripheral Expressway

Greater Noida: Two young men were killed while one got critically injured after their speeding SUV car collided with a divider on the eastern peripheral expressway in Greater Noida, in the wee hours on Monday morning.

According to police, the two deceased who were identified as Raka Bhati (28), a resident of Sirsa village, Greater Noida and Jeetendra (24) were brothers and ran a dairy business.

Police said that Raka was driving the Toyota Fortuner car while his brother was sitting in the co-driver seat. Another man Sandeep (28), their cousin, and a resident of Faridabad in Haryana was sitting in the back seat.

"The incident occurred around 3 am on Monday. We received a PCR call and a police team rushed to the spot. All the three men were traveling in the car when the incident took place. The car, which is presumed to have been driven at a high speed, collided with the divider near the exit at Sirsa village in Greater Noida.

"All the victims were rushed to nearby hospital where doctors declared two of them as brought dead while the other is stated to be critical and is receiving treatment at the hospital. Meanwhile no case has been registered in the matter so far" said Dharmendra Sharma, station house officer, Greater Noida police station.

According to the family members, the incident occurred just 500 meters away from the house of deceased persons. "Both of them had gone to meet relatives and left Mawana village in Faridabad around 1.15 am and were just about to reach home when the fatal incident took place. Raka was trying to overtake a Tata car from the left. However, a truck coming from the opposite direction collided with their car on the left side which was completely destroyed. They were barely 500 metres from home" said Anil Yadav, a family friend.
