On Valentine's Day, lovers spend copious amount of money to buy chocolates and roses for their loved ones. However, Ankush and Ashu, the two cousins, who were found murdered at Japani Park, had to attend another kind of date.
Their date was with their alleged killer, a juvenile, who bought chocolates for them as the trio consumed alcohol and chocolates together.
"The two brothers were heavily drunk. The two boys had also vomited as they had drunk a lot of alcohol. The accused also bought chocolates for the two boys to make sure that the intoxication reaches such a height that they would not be in their senses," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) M N Tiwari.
The two cousins had taken the chocolate and drinks and soon their heads started to spin. And then the police investigation runs a dead end as the events that transpired later are sketchy. The accused allegedly tried to mislead the police by constantly changing his story.
The main element of the story is the mysterious sandal of a woman found at the site. "When we asked him about the sandal, he kept making up several stories. He mentioned some woman and later some other detail," said a senior police official.
So far, the police are trying to join the dots to ascertain the motive behind the crime. "This appears to be a crime of grudge. He told us that he had a
fight with the cousins as they abused his mother. He never forgot that," Tiwari added.
The police have alleged that the accused is trying to implicate several people including his brother. "He has taken a lot of loans from several people and is taking their names," Tiwari added.
