16-year-old girl falls from 4th floor, dies

New Delhi: A 16-year-old girl died on Monday night after falling from an open window of her fourth-floor house in Bhajanpura area of North-East Delhi.

Police said that the girl was rushed to the nearby Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital where she was declared brought dead.

According to sources familiar with the case, police received a PCR call around 8 pm and when authorities reached the spot, the window was open and they found that there were no grills on it.

A preliminary enquiry has revealed that the girl was bringing a glass of water for her elder brother when she slipped in front of the open window and fell out.

Speaking to the Millennium Post, a senior police officer said that the girl's brother took her to the hospital where the body is currently being held for postmortem procedures to be conducted. Police added that the postmortem will be conducted tomorrow and the investigation in the case is continuing.
