12 test positive in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: Twelve cases of positive Covid-19 were reported from Ghaziabad district on Sunday. Health officials said that out of the total twelve patients, eleven are the members of tablighi jamaat.

In March, Ghaziabad police and administration had isolated nearly 31 jamaat attendees who had participated in tablighi jamaat congregations held in Nizamuddin Markaz. Around 25 of them were natives of Ranchi and were hiding at a Mosque in Pasonda village of Ghaziabad during lockdown while they were returning home after attending Jamaat.

The health department had taken their samples and seven of them were tested positive earlier in April. Samples of other persons were pending and on Sunday eleven more tablighi jamaat members were tested positive.

Dr. NK Gupta, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Ghaziabad said that the twelve cases include eleven members of tablighi jamaat and one other elderly man. "All the new patients have been shifted to Covid-19 level-1 hospital in Muradnagar area" the CMO added.
