12 kg of fire crackers seized in Jaitpur area
New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday said that they have seized 12 kilograms of firecrackers from South East Delhi's Jaitpur area.
Police have nabbed one accused in the case. Investigators said that head constable was sent as decoy customer to arrest the culprit.
According to police on October 7 at around 3 PM, sub-inspector Shamsher along with the beat staff was on patrolling duty. At around 3.10 pm, he received information through secret informer that one person was selling crackers at near Rajdhani Public school area.
A raiding team was constituted and head constable Babulal was made decoy customer.
"At around 3.30 P.M HC Babulal purchased crackers worth Rs.200 from the shop owner and after purchase, the person was apprehended," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-east) Chinmoy Biswal.
The crackers seller was verbally enquired and upon enquiry, he failed to produce a necessary license for selling the crackers. DCP Biswal added that the accused was identified as Anil Mishra who lives in Jaitpur Vistar (52).
He had committed an offence under section 286 of IPC and 9(B) Explosives Act 1884 by illegally selling the firecrackers in the area.
A case has been registered in this regard. Further enquiry into the matter is in progress.
