10th-fail fake IPS officer who harassed women arrested from Ggm
New Delhi: A 10th standard failed security guard, impersonating an IPS officer, was arrested from Gurugram on Sunday for harassing at least 25 women by sending them porn videos and clips on their mobile phones.
Police said the accused, identified as 38-year-old Gauri Shankar, used to lure several women on the pretext of providing government jobs. He is a native of Uttar Pradesh and is married with two children.
On November 25, a complainant informed the police that she was being harassed continuously and the accused was sending her obscene, vulgar messages, porn videos and clips on her mobile phone. "She also informed that the same guy was also frequently calling her and using abusive language. The victim also added that sometimes the accused used to make video calls concealing his identity just to see the complainant," said police, adding that a case was registered.
The police team contacted other women who were harassed by the accused. They disclosed that initially when they received a call from the alleged number, the caller introduced himself as an IPS officer or an SP from UP. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said during calls; he lured the caller with assurances of government jobs and thereafter began sending obscene content through WhatsApp.
On the technical surveillance, the offender was zeroed down in Mullaheri village in Gurugram Sector 22 area. On interrogation, it was revealed that the accused was working as a security guard for the last four months. He also tried his luck getting a job in Saudi Arabia at a mobile store but he failed to clear medical examination. "He came to Delhi about six-seven months back and started working as a security guard with a renowned security agency. He procured a SIM on a fake ID and started making calls to several girls," police said.
