10-yr old's body found in Gazipur canal

NEW DELHI: The body of a 10-year-old boy was found in Gazipur canal on Tuesday afternoon. The locals called up the police after a passerby spotted the hand of the boy in the canal. The fence along the canal was found to be broken. It is still unclear how the boy reached there and if there was some foul play or it is a case of accidental drowning.
The police receieved a call in the afternoon that a minor boy has drowned in Gazipur canal in East Delhi. Soon fire brigade and police team rushed to the spot. After about half an hour, the boy's body was fished out of the canal.
"The boy was a resident of Khoda Colony. He was idnetified and we are further investigating the case," said a senior police officer. The cops have sent the body for postmortem and awaiting the report. Since the child is just 10-year-old, the cops are also investigating if he has come to the canal alone or if there is some foul play in the drowning.
