10-yr-old raped in East Delhi

New Delhi: A 10-year-old minor girl was raped by a person in East Delhi's New Ashok Nagar area. Police have arrested the accused.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Jasmeet Singh stated that on February 17, a PCR call was received regarding the rape of a girl aged about 10 years in New Ashok Nagar police station. Without wasting anytime, the officer reached the spot in New Ashok Nagar where the victim along with her mother met and informed police about the incident.

"They took the name of one Rohit Shriwastav who raped her and also threatened her for dire consequences if she reveals anything," said DCP adding that the accused lives nearby the house of the victim.

DCP East further added that Shriwastav (27)has been arrested and the case has been registered under appropriate sections of IPC and POCSO.
