'1 month crucial for preventing the outbreak of Coronavirus'

Gurugram: For a city that is already fearful of the prospects of the spike in COVID-19 cases, more bad news is in store.The wife of the 44-year-old person, who earlier tested positive, also tested positive with COVID-19.

With this, the total number of patients having COVID-19 is four. With the rise in the number of positive cases, the district officials have set a timeline for one month. In the latest directive, the Haryana government ordered the closure of all State Agricultural Marketing Board vegetable markets and complete closure of all government and private schools till March 31.

A high-level meeting was organised by Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Arora in Gurugram on Wednesday wherein addition to prohibiting various commercial activities there was also discussions on improving the testing facilities. It has also been decided that free masks and sanitisers are also going to be provided to the sanitation workers and also those who are residing in the slums.

There are over 1,300 suspected cases in the city. On Tuesday, a 22-year-old girl who had visited Britain was found to be infected with the contagious disease. Not only her parents but also the domestic maid with whom she interacted, have been kept under observation.

The government officials clarified that the test is not being conducted in any laboratories in the city and the samples that are being collected are either being sent to Delhi or PGIMS, Rohtak.

Name of 17 hospitals, where the samples are being collected, were also given by government officials. These include Civil Hospital, Sector-19, Medanta, Fortis, Artemis, Paras, Max, Columbia Asia, Park hospital, Metro Hospital, Medeor hospital, Aryan hospital, Kalyani, Mayom, Neelkanth, Pratishtha, Narayana Hrudayalaya and Signature Hospital.

Taking cognisance of the anganwadi centres that were functioning in some parts of Gurugram, the district administration also made sure that these centres were shut down. Special preparations have also been made for the Gurugram prison where regular screening of prisoners is being done by the public officials.
