Delhi Transco celebrates10th foundation day

Delhi Transco Limited [State Transmission Utility], responsible for the transmission of power in the capital, celebrated its 10th foundation day on Tuesday.

The function was celebrated at Mavalankar auditorium,  which witnessed the presence of Minister of Power Haroon Yusuf as the chief guest on the occasion.

The guest list appeared to be much longer then expected. Several dignitaries, including  Shakti Sinha, Principal Secretary [Power], [MD] IPGCL R S Rathi, A B Shukla, Director [HR] DTL, A K Haldar, Director [Operations] and AK Saxena, Director [Finance], DTL and many others, visited the event.

Shakti Sinha marked the beginning of the celebration saying, ‘Both Delhi Transco and Genco has done a commendable job in the 10 years of their formation. Delhi Transco has improved its system availability by 99 per cent and is probably the highest among all state Transmission Utilities.’

‘We will further strengthen Delhi Transco’s capacity and would serve people in a better way,’ he added.

Yusuf appreciated the initiatives taken to reform the power sector of Delhi and said that it has started to show results.

‘The losses have come down from 60 to 17 per cent and it is far better then expected,’ the minister said. He also said the tariff and power situation both are far better in Delhi than other cities of India and congratulated Delhi Transco for successfully supplying 5,642 MW power in the month of July 2012.

On this occasion, the power minister also released a ‘Compilation of Land Records related to the Distribution Companies’ and distributed learning devices to the visually-challenged students of Andh Mahavidayalaya situated in Punchkuiya Road in Delhi.

Five employees were also awarded for their meritorious services. Gopalpur 220KV Sub Station and Bamnauli 400 KV sub-station were given best run sub station and runner up sub station award. Besides, the children of employees who have secured high marks in 10th and 12th board examinations were also given prizes.
