Delhi to celebrate India’s cultural heritage

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday released a calendar of events which are part of the ‘Delhi Celebrates’ programme that will continue till July 2013. The Department of Art Culture and Languages has prepared a detailed itinerary of events to be organised from August 2012 to July 2013 across Delhi. Delhi Celebrates is being consecutively organised for the third year. Delhi Education Minister, Arvinder Singh, Parliamentary Secretary to CM, Mukesh Sharma, Secretary Art, Culture and Languages, Santosh D Vaidya, secretaries of all academies and other officers were present on this occasion.
Dikshit stated that ‘Delhi Celebrates’ is the celebration of India’s rich culture, art and diversity of languages through dance, music, theatre, poetry, food festivals, lectures, films, children programmes etc. Delhi government’s various bodies namely Sahitya Kala Parishad, Hindi, Urdu Sindhi, Punjabi, Maithli-Bhojpuri and Sanskrit academies together organises the event.
The events being organised across Delhi would also showcase the composite culture of the city and its cuisines.
It is expected that entire Delhi will become witness of enchanting performances. The events being organised are monthly film festival, Bhakti sangeet, Days of Moscow in Delhi, Magic festival, Rag Rang, Poets meets, Classical music festival, Dance festival, Lok Utsav, Ramayana, A play on Tuglaq,Sufi Festival, Kite Festival, Qutab Festival, Delhi ke Utsav, Festival of France, Youth Festival, Natya Utsav, Gurubani, Bal Utsav etc.
