In a tragic development, a software engineer of south Delhi, who had been missing for the last one week, was found dead on a railway track at Hodal in district Palwal of Haryana, on Monday. He was apparently hit by a train.
The identification of the victim, Sumit Parihar, was done by his father Devender Parihar, after Delhi police officials approached Palwal police.
Palwal police said the body of the youth was found on railway the track on 10 September, a day after Sumit had gone missing from his house in Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave area.
When he was not identified for the next three days, the Government Railway Police (GRP) of Palwal cremated the body.
The missing complaint was filed at Safdarjung Enclave police station on 10 September. On the fateful day, Parihar had left his house without informing his family members as to where he was going, and leaving his wallet behind. A week after, his family members protested at a police station in Delhi to get a case lodged.
Parihar hailed from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh and worked for a software company in Noida, Sector 63.
‘We are investigating the case and trying to verify whether he committed suicide or was murdered,’ said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (South).
A team of Delhi police was been sent to Palwal after his mobile SIM location was traced at Hodal. His father, Devender, identified him on the basis of his clothes. His mobile phone and sleepers were missing, an official said.
During initial investigation, it was revealed that Sunil’s mobile had dual SIM facility. One of the numbers was used a day after he went missing.
Around 7 am, a labourer identified as Kamlesh was called from that number.
When Kamlesh was traced, he said he did receive the call, but it seemed to be dialled by mistake as the call got disconnected after a few seconds.
Devender Parihar lives in Mathura and runs a transport business, while Sumit was staying at his uncle’s house in Safdarjung Enclave.
