On Wednesday evening, Lipika Bharti, wife of Somnath Bharti, filed a complaint in South-West Delhi’s Dwarka North police station alleging domestic violence. Meanwhile, Delhi Police have provided security to her, following her apprehensions about her safety.
“We have received a complaint from Lipika Bharti and the hand-written complaint has been sent to the Crime Against Women Cell. This department will examine the allegations and accordingly the FIR will be registered,” RA Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) said.
According to a source, after receiving the complaint, Lipika has been taken to the hospital for medical examination. “The content of the complaint is same as she gave to Delhi Commission for Women,” the source added.
On Tuesday, Lipika had met Special Commissioner of Police Law and Order and gave her complaint.
“She had expressed her apprehensions to us. And, we had assured her that she will be provided full security. We have provided her security, as she was feeling a bit apprehensive,” said Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi.
Somnath Bharti met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the latter’s residence on Thursday. Other senior AAP leaders Ashutosh and Kumar Vishwas were also present in the meeting. Bharti met Kejriwal to discuss the complaint of a domestic violence filed by his wife against him.
Meanwhile, the senior AAP leader had to face a protest from BJP workers. As Bharti tried to leave in his car, a crowd gathered around his vehicle and shouted slogans against him. Police had to intervene to disperse them.
