Delhi Police head constable injured in road accident

Three serious road accidents were reported in the national capital on Wednesday.
A Delhi Police head constable, riding a motorbike, was hit by a speeding PCR van that was on its way to attend an accident call near North Avenue in New Delhi.
The official, identified as S Chand, was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where he was reported to be in a critical condition till Wednesday night.
In a separate incident reported on the wee hours, a mini truck rammed into a shop at north west Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area. The driver sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The impact led to several major cracks on the walls of the shop, which could collapse any moment, said a local from the area.
In another incident, a car rammed into a truck on the flyover near ISBT Kashmere Gate. The driver of the car was immediately rushed to a hospital and his condition was reported to be critical.
The second and third cases were reportedly due to lack of visibility during the foggy morning hours in the city.
Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself on Wednesday morning in Kavi Nagar area here, police said. Praveen, a resident of village Mehrauli, killed himself using his licensed pistol, DSP Ran Vijay Singh said.
