Delhi police denies delay in arrival of PCR van

On Wednesday, Delhi Police special commissioner (Law and Order), Deepak Mishra, denied the allegations of the Lajpat Nagar victim’s family the PCR van failed to reach to the aid of the victim on time.

Mishra said, ‘The PCR call was received at 8.25 pm on Monday, after which it was transmitted to PCR van K-30 at 8.28 pm. The van reached the spot at 8.34 pm, but by that time the victim had already been taken to the hospital by her family.’

In the report published in Millennium Post on Tuesday, the reporter had mentioned that the family blamed Delhi police for causing delay, and not sending any woman cop with the team that finally arrived.

On the latter allegation,  Mishra said that a woman cop along with the chairperson of an NGO had visited the crime scene and the statement was recorded by them.

‘I, however, don’t find it necessary that a female cop must be sent in the PCR van in such cases,’ he added.

After speaking to Mishra, the reporter again contacted Suman Rawat (victim’s cousin) who had made the PCR call.

‘We are disappointed with Delhi police’s working style. Instead of admitting their mistake, they are blaming us. I still stick to the fact that the PCR van came very late. We kept on waiting. Because of their delay, we had to spend additional Rs 15,000 on her treatment at Moolchand. The PCR van could have come on time and taken her  directly to AIIMS hospital,’ said Rawat.
