Emphasising on the need of a ‘single transport regulating’ authority, Delhi Chief Secretary Kewal Kumar Sharma on Tuesday said that there was a problem of multiplicity of authority with regard to urban transport in the national Capital.
“In Delhi, there isn’t a single authority with regard to public transport. There are certain policy issues which need to be addressed; more needs to be done to improve transportation in Delhi. I request Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to play whatever unified role it can, in this direction,” Sharma said.
He also requested DMRC to conduct a study on why the car owners have not significantly shifted to Metro during the odd-even traffic scheme. Speaking on the occasion of the 22nd Foundation Day of DMRC, Sharma lauded the Metro authority for its efficiency and said that it was an example for other organisations to replicate.
