Delhi MLAs pledge Rs 10 lakh each for Uttarakhand victims

Delhi legislators have decided to donate Rs 10 lakh each from their local development fund and one month’s salary as aid to the flood-ravaged state of Uttarakhand, chief minister Sheila Dikshit announced on Monday.
Talking to reporters after a cabinet meeting in which the decision was taken, Dikshit said, ‘To provide help to flood-affected victims in Uttarakhand, we have decided that MLAs (legislators) would contribute their one month’s salary and
Rs 10 lakh from their
respective MLALAD (Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development) Fund to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.’
The announcement came after a cabinet meeting held in the city. While announcing the decision, the chief minister also said that the national capital was committed to extend all possible help to the Uttarakhand government.
The cabinet also exhorted the employees of the city government to contribute their one day salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The cabinet further decided to depute a team of Delhi government officers to Dehradun in order to help the Uttarakhand government at the earliest.
