Delhi Metro Ph 4 to cover eight routes through city

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is all set to launch the phase 4. DMRC has finalised eight routes for the next phase which is scheduled to be completed by 2021. 

The 115.94-km phase 4 project is waiting for the final nod from the concerned department. If the permission is granted for the proposed phase, then it will cover around half of Delhi’s areas. 

Meanwhile, the 140-km Phase 3 project is yet to be completed that has a March 2016 deadline.

The DMRC Phase-4 Metro lines (deadline 2021) will cover the following areas including Yamuna Bank-Loni border 12 km, Rithala-Bawana 12.5 km. Janakpuri West-Mukundpur 18.74 km, Kirti Nagar-Dwarka sector-28 18.1km, Badarpur-Delhi Aerocity 20.79 km, Lajpat Nagar-Madangir 7.3 km, Azadpur-RK Ashram 9 km, Mukundpur-Dilshad Garden via Yamuna Vihaar 17.54 km. There might be some changes in plan before actual construction starts on these lines.

The Delhi Metro will use acned technology in the upcoming phase 4 project. 

‘We are in the process of constructing about 140 kilometres of metro lines under the third phase of metro expansion in the National Capital Region. The metro network in Delhi-NCR would cross the 400-km mark after the end of Phase 4, which is scheduled to be completed by the year 2021,’ said a DMRC spokesperson.
