Twenty four hours after a Metro staffer was stabbed and Rs 12 lakh was looted from inside the Rajendra Place Metro Station Control Room (SCR) in the wee hours by two masked men, police are yet to establish the identity of the culprits. Despite the movement of the accused captured in the CCTV footage, police are far from making any arrests.
Five to seven teams have been constituted by the Delhi Police to identify and trace the duo who stabbed Kunal Kishore and fled with the money, said a senior investigating police officer.
Meanwhile, doctor at the Ganga Ram hospital informed cops that Kishore has been shifted to High Dependency Unit. Suspecting the role of an insider, police are waiting to question Kishore once he is fit to talk.
“We are looking at all the angles. However, the possibility that the accused were insiders is very strong. It is probable that they must have been fired from the workplace or must have been scolded by the staffer some time back. The time frame (5:14 am to 5:34 am) in which they fled with Rs 12 lakh clearly point towards the fact that they were fully aware of the Metro premises,” said an investigating officer.
On the other hand, police also discovered two masked men roaming at the Kaushambi Metro station few days before the day of this incident.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the Metro station is being scanned frame by frame to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
“Investigation is on. We will soon zero down on the culprits who stabbed the staffer and looted Rs 12 lakh,” said Jitender Mani, DCP (Metro).
