Delhi may face major power cuts in coming two days

BSES (Yamuna and Rajdhani) areas will be more affected by this shortage in power supply, in comparison to those areas that receive electricity from TATA Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL).

According Delhi Transco Limited, areas connected to BSES Yamuna Power Limited on 14 January at  10 am to 5 pm, will have to face power cuts. These areas include Kishan Kunj Extension, DND Flyover, Mahila Colony, Hathi Khana, Vikram Gali, Chawri Bazar Main Road and Rajiv Nagar Industrial Area.

Planned load shedding from BSES Rajdhani Power Limited will occur on 15 January.  Areas connected to TPDDL, residents will have to face a minor power cut on 14 January, which will probably last 1-1.5 hours. Areas affected will include parts of Mubarakpur Village, New Timarpur and Indra Basti.

However on 15 January, the three major discoms have announced huge power cuts in major portions of the city. Those living in areas connected to BSES (Yamuna and Rajdhani ), will pace power cuts of at least seven hours.

BSES Yamuna would plan power load shedding in 44 areas, which will begin at 10 am and will go on till 5 pm on 15 January. Some of the areas affected by the power cut will be Pandav Nagar, Krishna Nagar main Bazaar, Karol Bagh, Gali Dakotan, Gali Arya Samaj, Anand Parwat, Old Seelampur and Shanti Mohalla.

Similarly, areas connected to BSES Rajdhani will also be affected on 15 January from 10am to 5 pm.  Areas affected by the power cut include, G and H Block Chitranjan Park, DDA Kalkaji, Nehru Place, Part of F-Block South Extension, some parts of Defence Colony (A& C Block), MCD office Defence Colony, Malviya Nagar, etc.

TPDDL will also induce load shedding for approximately two hours, from 10 am to 12 noon on 15 January. Outages will occur in areas such as Ramesh Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Part of Nangal village, Malka Ganj Road, parts of Begampur, Haiderpur village and Industrial Area.
