Parliamentary secretary to the chief minister and spokesperson of Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Mukesh Sharma on Monday stated that the city government and CLP is ready for constructive debate on any issue related to public interest raised by any member in the ensuing budget session that commences on 13 March.
Sharma expressed hope that the principal opposition party in the house would raise questions while respecting democratic values and rules of the house. The BJP Legislative Dal has given about 27 issues to Delhi Vidhan Sabha Secretariate for discussion.
‘Few notices submitted by the CLP have been accepted by the business advisory committee (BAC) of the house for discussion.
The ruling party would initiate discussion on regularisation of remaining unauthorised colonies and ensuring of civic amenities in such colonies. The BAC has also accepted a notice given by the CLP on law and order situation in the capital city for discussion in the house,’ Sharma added.
Sharma further stated that the budget session being of paramount importance offers ample opportunities to the members to raise their issues and join the discussions. During three days of discussion, the opposition would have an opportunity to express views and present constructive suggestions.
Sharma also stated that the BAC has also accepted a notice for discussion on rampant corruption in the local bodies and their lukewarm response in serving the interests of the residents in their respective areas.
The ruling party, said Sharma, would welcome an open discussion on any issue, however reiterated that irresponsible attitude of the major opposition party would not be tolerated at all.
‘The opposition party is continuing its theatrics resulting in chaos in public meetings organised by the city government. Similar attitude in the house would be treated suitably,’ said Sharma. According to him, the ruling party members would be presenting achievements of the government during the last 14 years.
