The Delhi Government is studying three existing Acts under which it can impose a “heavy fine” for violating its odd-even scheme. The issue of penalising violators of the scheme was discussed in a high-level meeting chaired by Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday. “CM was apprised by officials that Delhi government doesn’t need to enact a law to impose the fine on those violating odd-even scheme as existing Acts allow the state government to do the same,” said a government official. The official said the government is studying three existing Acts — Environment Protection Act, the Air Act and Motor Vehicles Act - under which government can impose a penalty on the violators.
