Delhi Govt striving to make schoolbags lighter: Sisodia

“The huge burden of schoolbag is a serious concern for us as students are <g data-gr-id="47">loosing</g> creativity. We are working on an agenda to reduce the weight of school bags with a target to reduce at syllabus by 25 percent,” said Manish Sisodia, who also holds education portfolio in Delhi.

 He also vows to give creative freedom to the teachers in the schools to make learning more interactive to improve <g data-gr-id="44">quality</g> of education in government schools. 

“I also met the former President APJ Abdul Kalam for his guidance to improve education in government schools. As per his guidance we will soon come up with a policy to provide two certificates to the school pass outs- education certificate by which they can pursue higher education and skill certificate by which they can opt profession of their choice to earn their livelihood,” he added.

The minister also <g data-gr-id="79">emphasise</g> the better training of teachers and restore respect to the teachers community in Delhi government schools. “I think the name of Human Resource Development Ministry should be changed to Education Ministry. It will be helpful to give the clear message and direction to the education system and also in making a better human in the educational institutions,” he added. Delhi government aims to upgrade some government schools in ‘Model Schools’ to improve education standard.
