Delhi govt seeks Rs1,200 cr from DDA for Barapullah project

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh laid foundation stone of the project in December last year before the Delhi Assembly poll. The total project cost, however, is Rs 1,260.63 crore.
Delhi government has sought almost the entire project cost by demanding Rs 1,200 from the DDA, saying that it should fund the project for the development of the Capital.
Public Works Department (PWD) of Delhi government has to build the Elevated Road flyover.
“We have written to DDA to give us Rs 1,200 crore to fund the third phase of the Barapullah Elevated Road. DDA has sufficient fund for the development of Delhi.
“In view of this, the development authority should fund this project,” PWD minister Satyendra Jain
said here.
Jain said that DDA has separate development fund, which has been collected from the Delhiites and hence as it is development project, DDA should give money for third phase of the Barapullah Elevated Road.
If DDA wants to build this project on its own, Delhi government would not have any objection.
Giving further details about the project, the minister said that government has also proposed to build a jogging track on the side of Barapullah Elevated Road.
“By building a jogging track, it will be very helpful to the people from the health point of view,” Jain said, adding that solar panel will be installed on the poles at the jogging track.
The commissioning of the phase III would reduce distance between East Delhi, Mayur Vihar, Noida, South Delhi and other parts of the city resulting in big relief to the commuters and saving of fuel and valuable time.
With the completion of this project, travel time from East Delhi to AIIMS will be reduced to 10 minutes.
