Delhi govt launches helpline for potential entrepreneurs, traders

“There will be 30 telephone lines fully backed by a professional call centre. The helpline Number — 55055, will function 14 hours a day from 8 am to 10 pm,” said Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of the Delhi government who also holds the charge of finance department. 

He further informed that the trained professionals will receive the call and readdress the grievances. “A unique complaint number will be generated for each grievance and the statues of which can be tracked through the same,” he added. 

As per the provision if the call is not answered by the concerned officials within stipulated time, it will automatically go to the senior officer.  

After launching the helpline at a function in Delhi Secretariat, Sisodia informed that the helpline will facilitate traders in guiding them in starting new businesses, in filing various forms and availing various services provided by Department of Trade & Taxes apart from answering the queries on various services, policy matters and system issues. 

“The helpline will also provide information on legal issues. It will also receive the complaints and it will automatically escalate these complaints to the senior officers, if the complaint of the traders is not redressed in given time frame,” he added. 

The helpline will also provide feedback on resolution of the complaint to the complainant. “We will also receive suggestions about the policies, rules and acts besides receiving complaints and information of tax evasion,” he added.

 He also directed VAT Commissioner S S Yadav to conduct random inspection of the helpline at least five times in a day for ascertaining better implementation and also improvement.
