In a first of its kind, Delhi government is set to introduce “paperless registration” of all types of vehicles in the national capital.
In the first phase of its pilot project, transport department, as an experiment, has started an online registration process for all private cars in the city, while in the second phase to begin next month, all two wheeler-vehicles will be registered online. According to a senior official, with the launch of online registration process, government will also have exact numbers of vehicles being sold every day. At present, the department maintains such records through documentation process.
The official said that under this project, automobile dealers would be able to register sold vehicle with the transport department online and they don’t need to visit regional department’s offices.
“With the start of online registration process, Delhiites will now be able to get registeration certificate (RC) at the earliest as all process from registering vehicles to depositing tax by the dealers will go online completely,” said a senior government official.
